The IRMC Archway is being installed today (Aug. 29, 2013) at the intersection of North 7th and Philadelphia Streets. Installation began around 11 a.m. and figures to continue well into the afternoon.
The Archway is a part of the recent Downtown improvement projects in that area, which includes refurbishing of the vinegar hill steps and retaining wall and additions to the sidewalk area to make the area “IRMC Park”. Jess Bowman of Downtown Indiana says the new archway is an important benchmark for the project.
The next phase of the overall project, which will focus on the 600, 700 and 800 blocks of Philadelphia Street, will start sometime next year.
