(Sanford) DeVinny, 85 of Indiana, died Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. Born in Indiana on April 6, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Thomas White Sanford and Eliza Belle (McCully) Sanford. She was the widow of Clarence W. DeVinny who died May 19, 2002. They were married May 14, 1951 and had just celebrated their 51&lt;sup&gt;st&lt;/sup&gt; wedding anniversary prior to his death.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="yiv201556611" style="margin-bottom: 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16pt;"&gt;She had attended the Indiana Normal School and graduated from Indiana High School. Following high school she worked as a clerk at the former McCrory&amp;rsquo;s Department Store. Shortly after her marriage, she and her husband, Clarence, opened the DeVinny Jewelry Store in Homer City. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="yiv201556611" style="margin-bottom: 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16pt;"&gt;However the job she was most proud of was that of a mother and homemaker, caring for her daughter, Becky.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="yiv201556611" style="margin-bottom: 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16pt;"&gt;Martha enjoyed working in her flower garden and making projects at her crafting classes. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="yiv201556611" style="margin-bottom: 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16pt;"&gt;She was a retired member of the Civil Air Patrol in Indiana, which was something she had shared with her husband.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="yiv201556611" style="margin-bottom: 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16pt;"&gt;Martha was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Indiana where she had previously been active in many church activities and projects. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="yiv201556611" style="margin-bottom: 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16pt;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="yiv201556611" style="margin-bottom: 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16pt;"&gt;She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca &amp;ldquo;Becky&amp;rdquo; Titterington and her husband, Harve of Scottdale. She will also be missed by her brother-in-law, William Anderson of Indiana and by her two grand-dogs, Sami and Gretchen.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="yiv201556611" style="margin-bottom: 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16pt;"&gt;Martha was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Ruth Blonde, Alice Nicewonger, May Sanford, Howard Sanford and Helen Edmiston. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="yiv201556611" style="margin-bottom: 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 16pt;"&gt;Friends will be received Tuesday, May 21 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home, of Indiana. A second visitation will be held Wednesday morning from 10 AM until 11 AM at&amp;nbsp;the Christ Episcopal Church, 902 Philadelphia Street, Indiana. Her funeral service will begin at eleven o&amp;rsquo;clock following the visitation hour at the church. The Rev. William Geiger will officiate. Interment will be private and held at a later date at the Oakland Cemetery.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p class="yiv526516188MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 14pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;The son of Irwin McKee and Mabel E. (Warner) Speedy, he was born October 29, 1930 in Conemaugh Twp., Indiana Co., PA.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="yiv526516188MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 14pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;Mr. Speedy was a member of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church for 70 years where he was a ruling elder, trustee, Sunday school teacher, superintendent, had served as the church&amp;rsquo;s treasurer and was on the church cemetery board for many years.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="yiv526516188MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 14pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;He graduated from Blairsville High School in 1948 and from California University in 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="yiv526516188MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 14pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;He began his teaching career in industrial arts at Elders Ridge High School and retired in 1990 with 30 years teaching at Apollo Ridge.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;He also ran the family beef cattle farm and was a US Army veteran of the Korean War.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="yiv526516188MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 14pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Nancy M. (Teeter) Speedy whom he married August 29, 1958; three sons, Thomas E. Speedy of Shippensburg; Dale A. Speedy (Debbie) of Indiana and Matthew L. Speedy (Valerie) of Clarksburg and a daughter, Sue A. Lyle (Jim) of Mt. Lebanon; five grandchildren, Heather, Kayla, Amber, Bradley and Jacob; a sister, Florence Mihalyov of Rochester, NY and many nieces and nephews.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="yiv526516188MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 14pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Raymond and Ralph Speedy and a sister, Martha Burnsworth.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="yiv526516188MsoBodyText" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: large;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Lewisville, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday with Rev. Elizabeth Arter officiating.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;James William Fairman, 86, of Indiana, formerly of Youngtown, Ohio and Creekside, passed away, Monday, May 6, 2013, at St. Andrew&amp;rsquo;s Village.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;A son of the late Walter M. and Marjorie Pounds Fairman, he was born June 15, 1926, in Indiana.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Mr. Fairman worked on the family farm until he was drafted into the Army. Jim was a corporal, serving in the paratrooper division, stationed in Germany. He received the Good Conduct medal, National Defense medal, and the Occupation medal. After returning from the Army, Jim went to Youngstown, Ohio, working for Republic Steel, Coke Oven Division, until his retirement. Years after his retirement, he moved back to Pennsylvania. Jim enjoyed telling jokes, going to flea markets, doing crossword puzzles, taking walks and feeding the wildlife on the farm. He liked going Sam&amp;rsquo;s in Smicksburg, where he enjoyed eating with his friends.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;He is survived by three brothers: Thomas M. Fairman, of Home; Walter M. Fairman, of Niles, Ohio; Joseph N. Fairman and wife Nancy, of Bridgeton, NJ.; three sisters: Alice Hager, Millville, NJ; Catherine Williamson and husband Dave, Newfield, NJ: Linda Liptak, Dixonville; a sister-in-law, Audrey Fairman, of Youngstown, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his fianc&amp;eacute;e, Audrey VanHorn; two brothers: Richard C. Fairman and Jack L. Fairman; a sister, Margaret Genesi; a nephew, Jack Fairman, Jr.; two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Robinson-Lytle, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Hazel Naomi Howarth, 101, of Indiana, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013, at St. Andrew&amp;rsquo;s Village.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;A daughter of the late Leslie D. and Bess Lee Wyman, she was born Sept. 24, 1911, in Sligo.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Mrs. Howarth was a graduate of Sligo High School. She was a beautician, a former Girl Scout leader and a homemaker. Mrs. Howarth was a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church. While in high school, she enjoyed playing basketball. Throughout her life, she enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, growing roses, bird watching, dancing the Charleston, knitting, and sewing, which included making wedding dresses for her daughters. Mrs. Howarth will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;She is survived by three children: Norma J. Howarth, Carol A. Wilson and Timothy, and Barbara L. Knight and husband Jeffrey, all of Indiana; six grandchildren: Wendy Varner and husband Robert, Timothy Wilson and wife Elizabeth, Michael Wilson, Lynette Gelman and husband Dove, Greg Knight and wife Michele, Christine Lehman and husband Leron; fourteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jacque M. Howarth; two brothers, Arthur Craig, George Craig; and a sister, Ruth McCafferty.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Friends will be received from 1 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Presbyterian Church with Rev. David J. Hanna officiating.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Presbyterian Church, 695 School Street, Indiana, PA 15701 or St. Andrew&amp;rsquo;s Village, 1155 Indian Springs Road, Indiana, PA 15701.&lt;/p&gt;
