Obit for Alma M. Wadding

Alma M. Wadding, 96, of Kittanning, formerly of Indiana, died Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Armstrong County Health Center, Kittanning.

A daughter of the late Phillip J. and Viola S. Lloyd Bish, she was born November 15, 1915 in Dayton.

Mrs. Wadding moved to Indiana in 1950 and had worked for the Riverside Company prior to her retirement. She enjoyed doing handy work, crossword puzzles and cross stitch.

She is survived by five daughters: Jean Shirey, of Shippenville; Shirley Shaffer, of Idaho; Joann Monti, of Fort Myers, FL; Karen Brewer, Creekside; Janice Barr and husband Michael, of Creekside. She enjoyed spending time with her special grandchildren, Joseph Brewer and James Brewer, Jr.; great-grandchildren: Tyler Brewer, Makenzi Brewer, Brady Brewer, James Brewer III, Emma Brewer and James Smith; and great-great-grandchildren: Rece Dean and Takeal Clemons; and numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Frank Wadding; a daughter, Marie Gervasoni; a brother, Elwood Bish; and three sisters: Ruth Steighner, Pearl Slagle and Myrtle Steighner.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc. in Indiana with Rev. Dr. Horace Derr officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.

PAULINE PRIBESH, 94

Pauline J. Pribesh, 94, Waterman died May 16, 2012 at the Communities of Indiana Haven. Mrs. Pribesh was born March 5, 1918 in Graceton. She was the daughter of the late Gusty and Anna Rura.

Mrs. Pribesh was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish and the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association. She was employed by Torrence State Hospital for 34 years as a Nurses Aid.

She is survived by 2 step-daughters – Dorothy J. Pribesh of Waterman and Nancy and husband Ed Empfield of Indiana;

5 step-grandchildren – Jim, Michelle, Karen, Ken and Cindy;

6 step-great grandchildren – Scotty, Tyler, Morgan, Elijah, Josiah and Veronica;

One sister – Gertrude and husband Carl Wimmer of Ohio;

One brother – Sam and wife Delores Rura of Coral.

She was also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George and sister Ann Andrassy.

RUTH SEXTON, 75

Ruth Marie Sexton, 75, of Kent, died Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Beacon Ridge in Indiana.

A daughter of the late Milford and Mary Ellen Adams Little, she was born March 26, 1937 in Marion Center.

Mrs. Sexton was a homemaker. She enjoyed traveling, attending Blue Grass music festivals, sewing and doing arts and crafts.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jerry T. Sexton, of Kent; two daughters: Dianna E. Lutz Hill, of Clarksburg and Marsha L. Lutz, of Apollo; four grandchildren: Bryan Hill, Melissa D. Hill, both of Homer City; Robert Isaac, Michelle Isaac Clark, both of Saltsburg; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, infant Brenda Sexton and Sandra Jean Lutz Ford; and a brother, Edward M. Little.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc. in Indiana where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with Pastor Arthur Lockard officiating. Interment will be in Marion Center Cemetery.

JOHN KUNTZ, 88

John Frederick Kuntz, 88, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.

A son of Frederick and Grace (Roadman) Kuntz, he was born September 6, 1923 in Derry, PA.

Mr. Kuntz was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Blairsville.

He was a World War II Army veteran and worked as a financial planner.

Mr. Kuntz graduated from Derry High School in 1941, attended St. Vincent College and graduated from Indiana State Teachers College (IUP) in 1950 with a bachelors of Arts degree in education. He received his masters in education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1955.

He established the motorcycle summer camp in Blairsville from 1967 to 1978.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Jean L. (Wick) Kuntz whom he married June 15, 1951; two sons, Fred Kuntz and wife, Brenda of Midlothian, TX and Greg Kuntz and wife, Kathy of Blairsville and a daughter, Karen Whitfield of Monument, CO; five grandchildren, Lindsey Lott, Rachel Crane, Ashley Kuntz, Andrew Kuntz and Caleb Kuntz and two sisters, Betty Mackinnon of California and Eleanor Pryce of Blairsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, David Whitfield and a brother, Robert Kuntz.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Blairsville, with Pastor Dick Motzing officiating.

Interment will be at a later date.

Evelyn Mack Liggett, 72, Homer City, died May 13, 2012 on Mother’s Day. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Jane Mack and was born December 16, 1939.

She owned her own notary business and also shared a salvage business plus rentals with her son Kenneth S. Liggett for 30 years. She was well known and loved by everyone that knew her. Mrs. Liggett was known as a loving, caring, honest, beautiful woman.

She is survived by her husband Homer C. Liggett of which death ends a marriage union of 53 years;

Four sons -

Tony C and wife Justine,

Roger C. and wife Pearl,

Kenneth S. and wife Renee and

Aaron S.;

One daughter - Barbara Ellen and boyfriend Ray Goshert and his daughter - Madline;

Grandchildren - Ryan, Kayla, Michael, Eric, Alexis and Jim Jr;

Step grandchildren - Brian and Daniel;

Great grandchildren - Donavon, Danasia and Destiny.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother - Blair Wallace and cousin James Mack.

Friends will be received Wednesday from 2-8 PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. Services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Thornton, officiating. Interment to follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana.

Mary Joan Sabo Petrosky, 90 years old, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Homewood of Plum Creek, in Hanover, PA. Mary was the wife of Anthony Joseph “Tony” Petrosky, who passed away on May 28, 2008. Born in Clune, PA on December 29, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Bukovich Sabo Kurcsics. Mary and Anthony were married on August 17, 1940. They lived in Lucernemines before moving to Homer City on Carlisle Street, living next door to her mother. She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Lucernemines, PA and belonged to the Holy Rosary Society. They had three children to whom she was very devoted. Mary, an accomplished homemaker, loved to cook and bake. She shared many of her specialties with friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed reading and knitting in her spare time.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Judy Fulmer and her husband Ken of Annapolis, MD; son, Rich Petrosky and his wife Dianne of New Oxford, PA; six beloved grandchildren, Denise Steckel of Annapolis, MD; Mark Fearing of Kitty Hawk, NC; Matthew Petrosky and wife Meg of Arlington, MA; Jeffrey Petrosky and wife Jennifer of Atlanta, GA; Steven Petrosky and wife Ashley of Macungie, PA; Lynn Morris and husband Rick of East Berlin, PA. She has five precious great grandchildren Matthew, Nicholas, and Bryan Steckel of Annapolis, MD; Logan Morris of East Berlin; and Lukas Petrosky of Arlington, MA. Also surviving are her brothers, Joseph Sabo and wife Alberta of Ohio; Louis Kurcsics and wife Clara of Penn Run, PA; John Kurcsics of Ohio; sisters-in-law Mary Sabo of Ohio; Charlotte Kurcsics of Homer City, PA; brother-in-law Joe Widziszewski of Greensburg, PA; special nieces Karen Halldin, Brenda Arone and many other nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her father when she was eight years old; her mother and step-father Frank Kurcsics; her loving husband Tony of sixty-eight years; her beloved son Gary who passed away at age four; brothers Frank Kurcsics, and Steve Sabo; sisters Janet Gearhart Widziszewski, Olga Bernard, and Beatrice Petrosky, and brother-in-law Joseph Bernard.

Her family wishes to thank all the nurses and staff who took such loving care of her at Homewood, in Hanover, PA. She loved them all very much.

Viewing will be Thursday, May 17, from 6 – 8 p.m. at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home in Homer City. A Blessing Service will be held on Friday, May 18 at 9:30 AM at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Lucernemines site with Rev Fr Ron Cyktor, the celebrant. Internment to follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Indiana, PA.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes any donations in Mary’s honor be sent to Homewood at Plum Creek- Care South Unit, 425 Westminster Ave., Hanover, PA 17331.
