On June 2, Homer-Center beat Bishop Guilfoyle, 5-1, to claim the District 6 Class A championship Wednesday night at Blair County Ballpark in Altoona, as heard on 1160 WCCS. You can also hear a replay of the game on the MSA Sports Network and scroll down to see photos from the game.

Evan Bencic stymied Bishop Guilfoyle on four hits, walking just one batter and striking out nine while going the distance. It is Homer-Center's fourth District 6 championship.

From the semi-final round: Homer-Center advanced to the District 6 championship Thursday, but the Marion Center Stingers did not.

Homer-Center came back from a 5-0 deficit to beat Northern Cambria, 10-8, in the Class A semifinals at First Commonwealth Field. Thirteen Wildcats batted in the fifth inning and Homer-Center went ahead on a two-run homer by Eric Cusimano.Homer-Center will play Bishop Guilfoyle in the championship game at Blair County Ballpark on Wednesday (7 p.m.). The Wildcats also earned a state playoff berth.

Marion Center lost to Central Martinsburg, 9-0, at Marion Center in the Class AA semifinals. Nick LaMantia took the loss for the Stingers.
