Union says offer still has "substantial concessions"

We are one week away from the deadline APSCUF has given for the State System of Higher Education to accept binding arbitration in their labor dispute.  Five days from next Monday, the faculty union says it will hold a leadership meeting to begin the authorization process to call a strike.

On Friday, bargaining resumed inHarrisburg.  The union says the State System team offered a new comprehensive proposal which is being reviewed, but the union also says it knows the new offer still contains substantial concessions on health care for active and retired union members, workload and compensation for temporary faculty, and distance education.

Also at Friday’s session, APSCUF presented data it claims supports the union’s proposals.

The next bargaining session is scheduled for October 22nd, two days after the strike meeting that is scheduled in the event binding arbitration is not accepted.
