Increase in truck traffic could strain bridge

The White Township Supervisors heard a report at last night’s meeting about increased truck traffic that may be overloading a bridge on Rustic Lodge Road.  Township Assistant Manager Chris Anderson speculates that trucks may be using the road as a shortcut to get to Wayne Avenue. Local deliveries are permitted on the road, he said, but there is a weight limit on the bridge. It is hoped that cooperation with state police, who would fine the drivers, will resolve the issue.

In other news form last night's supervisors meeting, this Sunday will be White Township’s first-ever flea market. It will be held at the S&T Bank Arena from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Township also renewed its contract with UPMC for health care coverage for township empoloyees. There was a 1.5 percent increase in rates, but the township received a two percent reduction for going fully electronic. Rates are now $539 for single subscribers and $1,503 for a family per month.
