Police deal with dozens of alcohol-related incidents over weekend

As is to be expected following an IUP Homecoming weekend that was blessed with good weather, the police blotters are full of alcohol-related incidents, and the weary officers are getting the reports written up…

This morning, Indiana Borough police issued another batch, this one with sixteen different reports, most of them of them of the underage drinking/public drunkenness/disorderly conduct variety, with a few shoplifting cases and some criminal mischief.

The most serious offense so far resulted in serious charges against a Loretto man.  22-year-old Jordan McDermott was drunk and disorderly at the 4th Street Sheetz and police took him into custody.  While they were transporting him to the police station, he assaulted an officer.  McDermott is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and single counts of simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness.
