Maple Street fire of undetermined origin

A state police fire marshal will investigate the cause of a fire that caused heavy damage to a home at650 Maple Streetearly yesterday morning inIndiana.

The blaze was reported at 12:52 AM at the home of Kenneth and Nancy Robinson, who were chased from the home and onto a porch roof, from which they were rescued.  They were unhurt, but their dog perished.

Firefighters navigated the crowds of reveling IUP Homecoming students well, and got to the house quickly, thanks to some pre-planning…several of them had stayed at the downtown fire station overnight in case there was some sort of incident.

Even though the flames were put out relatively quickly, the damage was enough to make the home uninhabitable, and the siding was melted on a detached garage, but firefighters managed to keep a neighboring home from sustaining any damage.

The Robinsons reportedly do have fire insurance.
