SCAMMERS STEAL MONEY INTENDED FOR MS SOCIETY
Police ask Robinson area victims to contact them

7/28/2010

State police are trying to determine how many people were bilked out of money in a scheme that played out in Robinson earlier this month.

Police say that on July 14th, known suspects canvassed the town in West Wheatfield Township, ostensibly collecting money for the MS Favorite Baby Contest, but they kept the money for themselves.

The contest provides money for the national MS Society. People donate money- a penny per vote – to choose their favorite baby from a list of entrants whose pictures are displayed at the Indiana Mall. The suspects told their victims that they would pool the funds and give it over to the local chapter.

Nobody affiliated with the contest or with the MS society is involved in the crime.

Anybody who suspects they may given money to the scammers should contact state police at 724-357-1960.
