Suspect led police on chase through Indiana Borough

A Philadelphia man was ordered held at the Indiana County Jail after his arrest Saturday night on a variety of driving offenses as he tried to flee from Indiana Borough police.

27-year-old Arthur David Smith III is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, DUI, reckless driving, running two stop signs, driving under suspension, and various other violations.

Police were summoned at 6:45 PM Saturday for a report of two men fighting in the 1300 block of School Street.  When they arrived, the suspects fled in a car, with police pursuing east on Philadelphia Street and on Church and School streets.  The vehicle finally pulled over in the 1000 block of School Street.

District Judge Jennifer Rega set bond for Smith at $5,000 straight cash.
