FORMAL ARRAIGNMENT TODAY FOR ACCUSED KILLER FAIRMAN
North Mahoning Township man accused of killing father-in-law

10/11/2012

Shaun Fairman is due in court today for formal arraignment on charges related to the shooting death of his father-in-law, 55-year-old Richard Shotts, on June 3rd in North Mahoning Township.

The 33-year-old Fairman will appear before Judge William Martin on charges of criminal homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, burglary, and receiving stolen property, all felonies.  He will be expected to enter a plea for each of the charges filed against him.

The shooting occurred the night of June 3rd at a home near Trade City.  Fairman was separated from his wife, who with their children was living at the home, and Shotts and his wife were staying there to protect the family.  After the shooting, Fairman went through the house room-by-room looking for his wife and when he entered the room in which she was hiding, she shot him before he could shoot her, and then held him at bay until police arrived.

Today’s formal arraignment is at 8:30 AM.
