A Blairsville man yesterday waived to court one misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct, and other more serious charges against him were withdrawn.
20-year-old Jared Welsh was arrested in July for allegedly luring a 14-year-old Homer City girl into his van and trying to touch her indecently. He had been charged with corruption of minors, unlawful contact with a minor for sexual exploitation, and indecent assault of a person less than 16 years of age, but all of those charges were dropped.
The girl reported that she got into Welsh’s van when he offered her a ride home on July 28th, but that he then held her against her will and tried to touch her inappropriately.
Welsh’s $50,000 bond was rescinded and Judge George Thachik ordered him released on recognizance.
Judge Thachik was also scheduled to conduct a preliminary hearing for Daniel Yasick, the former business manager of the Church of the Resurrection who is charged with stealing more than $100,000 from the church’s accounts. That hearing was continued to another date.
