Fundraising goes on for new facility

The new home of the Indiana County Humane Society is not ready to open just yet, but it’s under roof, with walls and windows in place, and you can get a sneak peek of it on Saturday from 10 AM to 1 PM.
Humane Society officials hope that seeing the structure so close to completion may boost the fundraising effort over the top in the $2 million “Unleash the Possibilities” campaign.  There is still about $500,000 to raise to provide the shelter with basic medical equipment, exam tables, spacious cat cages, kennels for every size of dog, supplies, office furniture and reception area seating.
The shelter will include a separate entrance for the admission of strays and relinquished pets, individual isolation and quarantine rooms, get-acquainted suites, a secure fenced area for the dog warden and humane officers, four outdoor fenced-in play areas, state-of-the art HVAC, a community room, and  office areas.
Coffee, donuts and hot apple cider will be served at Saturday’s event, which is free.  If you’d like to attend, please RSVP to 724-465-3977.
