Construction is expected to start next year on a project along Route 422 in Armstrong County.  PennDOT officials say Frank J. Zottola Construction of Butler County was the low bidder for the Theater Road Realignment Project.  The contract is worth around $9.2 million.

There were eight bids for the project.  The project includes the realignment of Route 422, including some flattening of the roadway and the addition of a center turn lane just east of Lasher Road and Rupp Church Road.  Theater and Graham Roads will also be realigned.

The project includes the area between Wray Plan Road and Rupp Church Road in Kittanning and Manor Townships.  Construction will start next year and last two more years.  Local officials have been discussing Route 422 between Indiana and Kittanning for some time and safety is a concern, with several major accidents along the roadway over the last year.
