Armstrong Township woman died in accident


The life of Janessa Fleming will be celebrated in a special way with the opening tomorrow of an exhibit of her artwork at the Westmoreland County Community College Science Hall in Youngwood.


The 25-year-old Fleming, the daughter of Randy and Paula Fleming of Armstrong Township, died in a vehicle accident as she was on her way to class at WCCC on November 15th.  She was to have graduated with an associate degree in fine art and will be awarded posthunously with an honorary degree by the college.  In addition, the college will establish a memorial scholarship for special needs fine arts students at WCCC.  Janessa was born deaf.


The exhibit that will run from tomorrow through December 12th is titled, “The Sound of Color; A Memorial Tribute to Janessa JoAnn Fleming”, and features many of her paintings.  A reception will be held Wednesday night from 6 to 8 PM.  The exhibit is free and open to the public.
