ANOTHER LOWMASTER DEFENDANT PLEADS GUILTY
Carroltown woman admits guilt in money laundering scheme

12/3/2012

The U.S. Attorney’s office has announced another guilty plea in the wide-ranging Lowmaster drug ring, which operated in fifteen Western Pennsylvania counties, including Indiana County, as well as in four states and Canada.

58-year-old Theresa Deckard of Carrolltown, where the drug operation was based, pleaded guilty to money laundering charges that could land her in prison for twenty years, and she could also face a fine of up to half-a-million dollars.  She’ll be sentenced in April.

Deckard was charged for handling cash transactions for the operation, sending large amounts of money to drug suppliers and exchanging smaller bills from drug dealers for $100 bills at banks around the Carrolltown area.

George Lowmaster, who is accused of running the multimillion dollar drug ring, is still awaiting trial and many of the defendants who have pleaded guilty have presumably cut deals to testify against him in exhange for lesser charges.
