Around 1000 people turned out for the Pirates Caravan Wednesday night to get a chance to meet and get autographs from Pirates Broadcasters John Wehner and Greg Brown, Pirates Pitchers Jarod Hughes and Justin Wilson, and Gold Glove Winner Andrew McCutchen.

Some fans arrived as early as noon to be in line for the autograph session.  The crowd became so large that the mall stayed open after its regular closing time so everyone could meet the players and get autographs.

It was an extra memorable night for one couple.  Ryan Skomra of Portage, Cambria County and his girlfriend, Tracy Pardee of Cherry Tree, were one of the first people in line at our VIP reception last night at Dingbats.  As the couple received autographs from Andrew McCutchen, Tracy also got quite a surprise.  Andrew McCutchen agreed beforehand to take part in Ryan’s marriage proposal.

So in front of dozens of people, Ryan got down on one knee and popped the question.  Of course, Tracy said yes and told us afterward it was something she never expected.
