Bolivar man accused of causing death of his infant daughter

The Clayton Mibroda criminal homicide trial opens today in Westmoreland County Court.  Mibroda is the Bolivar man accused in the death of his 20-day-old daughter in December 2011.

Natalee Mibroda was taken December 27th to the Indiana Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, and the susbesquent examination by Indiana County CornoerMike Baker along with autopsy results from Allegheny County found injuries that indicated abuse.

Mibroda, who formerly lived in Indiana, gave investigators three accounts of the circumstances that led to his daughter’s death, including one in which he said he had tripped and fallen while carrying the baby and had landed on her.

The trial will be conducted in the courtroom of Judge John Blahovec and is expected to include testimony from Vicki Fetterman, Mibroda’s mother.  She and her husband were given custody of Natalee shortly after her birth because tests showed opiates in her bloodstream when she was born.  But the Westmoreland County Children’s Bureau had orderd the baby returned to her parents.  The defense is expected to try to put the blame on Kayla Lichtinfels, the baby’s mother, who was diagnosed as having post partum depression and had called Fetterman to care for both of her children just before Natalee’s death.
