No settlement in sight yet

The State System of Higher Education said over the weekend that a contract settlement with the State College and University Professional Association (SCUPA) was ratified by the union, and said there was progress made at the bargaining table with APSCUF, the faculty union.  There is still no agreement in sight just yet, though, with another round of talks scheduled for Wednesday.

State System Vice Chancellor Gary Dent, meanwhile, fired back at what he called “inaccurate statements “ made by APSCUF leaders.  Dent had commented previously about the amount of money the State System pays for health care coverage for APSCUF members and he is standing by those numbers, figures the union disputes.

The major issues remaining to be resolved are health care for current and retired faculty, which may be separated into two separate items; and payments for developing distance education courses.
