Jury selection in two cases

Jury selection is scheduled this morning (8:30 AM-Judge William Martin) for three trials in Indiana County Court.

One of the trials orignally scheduled today will not happenIt’s the case against 26-year-old Michael Mercurio-Butler, a Pittsburgh man arrested last July for yelling and waving a gun around on a crowded sidewalk on Philadelphia Street in Indiana.  Police found him in the 600 block of Gompers Avenue and he fought with them during his arrest as they got the loaded weapon away from him.

Mercurio-Butler’s trial has been rescheduled for March 18th after his attorney, Jenee Oliver, informed the court on February 8th that she is no longer permitted to practice law in Pennsylvania.  The county public defender’s office is now representing him.

Juries will be selected for two cases, including for the trial of Randy Lee Fenstermaker Jr., who now lives in Butler.  He faces charges in a theft and receiving investigation.

In another case, Troy Baker of New Kensington faces trial for two felony drug distribution offenses, a felony conspiracy violation and a misdemeanor possession count.
