Guards have begun transferring to their new locations from prisons in Westmoreland and Cambria counties.  Both SCI Cresson and SCI Greensburg are scheduled to close their doors by June 30th

Prison employees and inmates have begun transferring to new locations across the state, including SCI Pine Grove, SCI Benner in Centre County and SCI Camp Hill.  Some employees who are being transferred are taking pay cuts for lower positions.  In Cambria County, a private meeting has been scheduled for next Tuesday.

At the meeting, local political and community members will discuss the future of the SCI Cresson building with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections.  The goal is to find another use for the building.  Officials in Westmoreland County say the loss of their prison could cost the area around $20 million a year.
