SEQUESTRATION WILL NOT IMPACT SPIRIT FLIGHTS OUT OF LATROBE

3/1/2013

Popular flights out of the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport will continue, even if federal sequestration cuts cause the closure of a control tower at the airport.

Officials with Spirit Airlines say they’re planning to operate a normal schedule at the airport while they wait to see what effect, if any, those planned cuts will have.

Spirit runs popular fights to Myrtle Beach, Orlando and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  The Federal Aviation Administration said last week that if the control tower at Arnold Palmer Regional was forced to close, Pittsburgh International would handle air traffic control services.  Spirit is authorized to operate when the control tower is not operational.
