One Penn State Trustee is speaking out against the recent sanctions made against the university by the NCAA.

According to published reports, Penn State Trustee Joel Meyers sent out a mass email on Thursday that blasted the NCAA’s sanctions against Penn State, saying they were unjust and asked for the NCAA to lift the sanctions, which include a $60 Million fine and a four-year bowl ban.  Myers said that NCAA and the man behind the report that helped put the sanctions in place, former FBI Director Louis Freeh, misunderstood what he called the Culture of Reverence that surrounded the Penn State Football program.

Myers also said that the NCAA violated their own rules and procedures and forced Penn State president Rodney Erikson to violate the principles set down by the Freeh report without consulting or getting approval from the Board of Trustees.

Myers said that the board never voted to accept the Freeh report.
