Jury selection a week away in 2009 triple murder case

The final scheduled pretrial conference for the attorneys in the Kevin Murphy murder case will be held today before Westmoreland County Judge Al Bell in Greensburg.

Murphy is the Saltsburg man charged with three counts of first degree murder in the April 2009 shooting deaths of his mother, sister, and aunt at the family’s glass business across the river from Saltsburg in Loyalhanna Township.

In an aspect of the case that has not previously been brought to public light,  Murphy’s attorneys Mark Bolkovac and Robert Bell last week filed motions to exclude computer testimony and testimony related to his involvement in organized crime.  Sometime before the trial begins, Bell is expected to rule on those motions and a possible defense motion to have the jury visit the scene of the crime.

Jury selection begins next Monday.
