Thomas Shaffer Jr. accused of forced entry at White Township home

An Indiana man who is already awaiting sentencing for felony theft has been arrested for breaking into a White Township home and stealing prescription medications and a ring.

28-year-old Thomas Lynn Shaffer Jr. is accused of forcing his way into the home of Nancy Pearce, in the 100 block of Brady Drive, between 11 AM and 3:45 PM while Pearce was away.  Police say that in addition to stealing the medication and ring, he also had suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia on him when he was taken into custody.

Shaffer pleaded guilty on March 1st to a single felony count of theft, and eight other charges were dropped, including five more felonies.  He and 20-year-old Brandon Henry of Indiana were arrested for stealing two ATVs from a home along Geesey Road in White Township last October.

Shaffer, whose has been involved in a number of criminal cases going back to 2004, is now charged with three felony counts, one for burglary and two for criminal trespass, along with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and theft.  He is to be sentenced May 10th for the other theft case.

Brandon Henry has applied for the country’s Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program and is awaiting ARD court, but new burglary charges against him were filed last week for another case dating back to last June.
