The jobless rate in Indiana County for the month of March fell by three-tenths of a percentage point, from 8 percent to 7.7 percent.  That’s according to the latest statistics released by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.

That means that Indiana County’s jobless rate ranks 37th among Pennsylvania’s 67 counties, tied with Clarion, Erie, Jefferson and McKean counties.

Neighboring counties also saw their unemployment rates drop:  including Cambria County at 9.2 percent, Jefferson County at 7.7 percent, Clearfield County at 8.4 percent, Westmoreland County at 7.2 percent and Armstrong County at 8.1 percent.  Mountour County has the state’s lowest unemployment rate at 5.5 percent and Cameron County has the highest, at 11 percent.
