Man is one of two arrested for growing pot. Meanwhile, hearing for accused killers of Ernest man continued to August

A preliminary hearing will be held today for 38-year-old Roderick Ejuan Jones, on charges of conspiracy, five counts of manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and four misdemeanor drug possession charges.

Jones and 50-year-old James Drennan of Homer City were charged in April after an investigation that began last August when a state police air surveillance team spotted marijuana growing in a fenced-in area at a trailer along South Harmony Road in Cherryhill Township.  Further investigation revealed two rooms of the trailer had been converted into growing rooms for marijuana, and there was also cocaine and a synthetic form of hydrocodone (called “Dihydrocodeinone”).

Jones is due before District Judge George Thachik at 2 o’clock this afternoon.

Meanwhile, the preliminary hearings for Christopher Salsgiver and Gregory Patterson were to have been held before Judge Thachik today, but they have been moved to August 6th.  The two Glen Campbell men are accused of shooting to death James Alexander of Ernest last Monday night along a walking trail in Clymer.  Investigators say it appears the confrontation came about because of a botched drug deal.
