Sunday afternoon wreck involved pickup, tractor trailer

A Cambria County man was injured yesterday afternoon in a two-car accident on Route 422 between Shelocta and Elderton.

State police say a pickup truck driven by 37-year-old Samuel Faunce of Johnstown crossed the centerline into oncoming traffic and collided with a tractor trailer driven by another Cambria County man, 46-year-old John Jaikes of Portage.  The accident happened just west of Barks Hill Road in Plumcreeek Township.

Faunce was flown from the scene to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh with unspecified injuries.  Police do not say whether or not Jaikes was injured.

Firefighters from Elderton, Kittanning, and Indiana were called to the scene to aid in the cleanup, including fuel leaking from the rig.
