HEARING FOR ALLEGED CHILD MOLESTER, SISTER CONTINUED
Grant Township man accused of inappropriate contact at day care center

7/23/2013

Preliminary hearings for a Grant Township Man accused of molesting children at a day care center, and for his sister who ran the day care have been continued.

As we previously reported, 44 year old Todd Swaynie is accused of inappropriate behavior involving at least two children, with one incident happening this past year, and another one that occurred around 10 years ago, at a day care center owned by his sister Crystal Pfeffer on Dixonville Road.  Pfeiffer is accused of permitting her brother access to the children at the day care center.

Police say in the incident that happened nearly a decade ago, she told a parent who complained about Swaynie's behavior that it was the parent's responsibility --not hers-- to do something about it.  She also mentioned that Swaynie was a special-needs individual and had pledged to keep him away from the children, but failed to do so.

Swaynie faces five felony charges, including two counts each of corruption of minors and aggrivated indecent assault of someone under 13 years old.  He is being held in Indiana County Jail with bond set at $40,000.  Pfeiffer was charged with six counts of endangering the welfare of children, and is free on bond.

No word yet on when these hearings will be rescheduled.
