The Indiana County Commissioners yesterday appointed Tom Robertson of Rayne Township as the new manager of the Jimmy Stewart Airport. Robertson replaces Todd Heming, the only manager the airport has ever had, who retired this spring after 28 years.
In other action, the commissioners approved a number of change orders for several projects, including the Windy Ridge development near the Route 286/Route 422 interchange in White Township. The largest change order is for the widening of the building pad and resultant grading and drains on Lot 5, the site of the new Creps United Publications building. The change will allow for future expansion of the building by as much as 75 feet.
The commissioners also awarded a $64,000 contract to Eveready Contracting of Apollo for the demolition and removal of multiple abandoned structures as well as other debris at Windy Ridge.
The county has agreed to a small increase in the contract amount for the ongoing work on North 7th Street and the Vinegar Hill steps in Indiana. The increase is to accommodate the purchase of donor plaques and empty plaque trays on the steps and will be paid for through donations made to Downtown Indiana.
Finally, the commissioners approved a number of contracts with human services agencies and their providers, including seven contracts for Children and Youth Services.
