422 PROJECT IN SHELOCTA TO BE DONE DURING NIGHTTIME HOURS
Work begins Sunday

7/25/2013

PennDOT says work will begin on Route 422 in the Shelocta area this weekend, and it will be a different construction schedule than we are used to.

The work on the heavily-traveled highway will take place only during the nighttime hours between 7 PM and 6 AM, and it will begin Sunday night.

The $1.44 million project between the Route 56/156 intersection in Shelocta and Ridge Road in Armstrong Township will include intersection improvements, the addition of turning lanes, drainage upgrades and repairs, and an asphalt overlay of the entire section of roadway.  The turning lane at the intersection is expected to greatly improve safety for motorists.

Traffic may be restricted to one lane during the project hours, but will be back to normal during the daytime.

The work is expected to be completed by mid-October.
