Grubbs to face maximum sentence of ten years

Facing trial for numerous sex-related offenses involving a 9-year-old girl, a Creekside man yesterday opted to instead plead no contest to a single second-degree felony charge of statutory sexual assault.

47-year-old Ricky Grubbs had previously denied that he’d engaged in inappropriate sexual behavior with the girl, saying that her mother had made up the accusation of rape in retaliation against him.  Grubbs was charged with eleven felony sex offenses, including two charges of rape, along with one misdemeanor.  Police say he showed the girl pornographic movies and told her she needed to learn to do what the people were doing in them.

Indiana County District Attorney Pat Dougherty says Grubbs will be sentenced on December 16th.  He is facing a maximum sentence of ten years in prison and a fine of $25,000.  He will be required to register as a Megan’s Law offender for 25 years.
