A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled today at 10 AM for the Miracle League baseball field at the YMCA in Indiana.
The specially-designed field will offer disabled children the opportunity to play baseball with a completely-accessible rubber turf field with no curbs or bumps to trip up someone who must use crutches or to hinder wheelchair traffic.
The coming of the Miracle League to Indiana County was announced in July, and the fundraising continues for the million-dollar enterprise. Pirates Charities provided a $150,000 gift, helping the effort along, but much remains to be done. To learn how you can contribute, visit the league’s website, www.mloic.org. One of the ways to donate is by purchasing a brick, either with a personal message or a company logo.
