Police investigation continues in wake of second death

Indiana County District Attorney Pat Dougherty will wait until a state police investigation is complete before deciding on possible charges against the driver of a bus involved in a now double-fatal collision on September 4th in White Township.

On Friday, a second victim passed away, possibly from injuries sustained in the crash.  79-year-old Kathryn Reeger of Shelocta had been a passenger in the bus which ran a red light at Ben Franklin Road and Shelly Drive, colliding with a car driven by Frank Fazio Jr. of Indiana.  70-year-old Sondra Livingston of Homer City was thrown from the bus and was pronounced dead later that day at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.  Fazio and a third bus passenger, Grace Renwick, suffered minor injuries.  The bus driver, 20-year-old Michael Smith of Nanty Glo, was not injured.

An exact cause of death for Reeger is pending the results of an autopsy, and those results could take as long as eight weeks.  If the autopsy concludes she died from injuries suffered in the accident, it would not play a role in determining whether or not Smith is charged, but would factor into what the charges would be.
