Hurlbert ranked 8th in nation by website

Just knowing that there is a website out there called “RateMyProfessors.com” might be enough to make a college faculty member cringe, but in the case of an IUP English professor, it’s a good thing.

Claude Mark Hurlbert last week was listed at number eight on the top ten list of professors across the nation.  RateMyProfessors uses student reviews to compile its rankings, so Hurlbert’s rating is especially gratifying.

The website is the largest such site on the web, including faculty from more than 7,500 schools.  Some of the comments on Hurlbert noted how he loves what he does and cares about everyone in the class, how he helped students forge friendships outside of class by the sharing of their stories and tragedies, and his gift for inspiring students and not making them feel intimidated.

Hurlbert says the ranking is “incredible”, and says he is humbled by it.
