MARION CENTER SCHOOLS ADJUSTING TO STATE DEPT. OF EDUCATIONS MEASURING SYSTEM

9/24/2013

The Marion Center School District is starting to put in place new curriculum to help boost student success.

At last month’s meeting, when each of the school levels presented their plans for the upcoming school year, it was announced at the time that Pennsylvania received a waiver for the No Child Left Behind requirements.  New measurement standards are being put in place for the schools that will show different areas of growth that were outside of the standardized tests involved with No Child Left Behind.  Charlie Adamchik, the director of curriculum, instruction, and assessment in the School District, says the learning curve has been tough in getting acclimated to the new systems.

In other business, the board approved supplemental contracts for the district’s athletic director and assistant athletic director.  They unanimously voted to award the contract to Athletic Director John Bomboy, and voted 7-2 to award a contract to assistant Athletic Director Don Seanor, with Lori Marshall and Keith Isenberg voting no.
