Event scheduled next month at Kovalchick Complex

IUP’s Hawk Rock is scheduled for October 19th and 20th, but the organizers of the charity event have another fundraising effort scheduled for this Sunday.  They will be collecting non-perishable food from 10 AM to 2 PM that day at Valeski’s Fourth Street BiLo in Indiana.

The Hawk Rock is a student-led community service campaign to address homelessness and hunger in Indiana.  Their main event is a 24-hour dance-a-thon that begins at 10 AM October 19th at the Kovalchick Complex. Dancers donate $20 each to participate, and are also encouraged to raise funds before the event.

Last year, the Hawk Rock contributed $10,000 to the ICCAP food pantry, the Pathway Homeless Shelter, The Community Kitchen, and Family Promise of Indiana County.

People may register for the Hawk Rock at www.iup.edu/hawkrock or by contacting the Office of Service Learning at (724) 357-2235.
