Requests for help on the increase

Indiana County’s Department of Human Services is stepping up to help those who help others, with a meeting next Tuesday morning to discuss utility assistance for the needy.

A department news release says organizations and churches are seeing an increase in requests for assistance with basic costs from county residents, especially from those having trouble paying their utility bills.  The problem can be dangerous.  In recent years, there have been a number of tragic fires that have come about because of people mis-using candles or space heaters.

The meeting on Tuesday is at 9 AM at the Department of Human Servies office at 300 Indian Springs Road.  They ask that you RSVP by Friday.
