Last night, Indiana County’s Tourism Bureau celebrated it’s 50th anniversary with a gala dinner and the awarding of the 2013 Ambassador’s award.
The night was filled with memories and history of the first 50 years for the Indiana County Tourist Bureau, as many long time members of the tourist bureau were honored, including Paul Wass, who was there when the tourist bureau began. He talked about the early days of the bureau when they had a shoestring budget.
Along with honoring past members and directors with the tourist bureau, several former Queen Evergreens and court members were also honored for their service to the bureau. The highlight of the night was the awarding of the 2013 Ambassador’s Award, which went to the Indiana County Christmas Tree Growers Association. Gregg VanHorn of the association talked about how honored they were to be given the award.
The celebration also included a video presentation from IUP and an exhibit of the history of the Queen Evergreen program.
