Council to vote on motion next month

Indiana Borough Council will vote on whether or not to establish a planning department at its next meeting on December 3. At a work session last night, an ad hoc committee that has been working for the past several months on the planning needs of the borough recommended to the full council that a planning department be established with Dana Turgeon as department director.  This position would serve as a consultant to the planning commission, according to Borough Manager William Sutton. There would also be someone on-site at the borough offices during the week to handle smaller issues and help to prepare proposals to the planning commission.

Additionally, the council will vote to hire Otto Peterson as the permanent code enforcement director. He has been serving as interim director since July of this year. Under Peterson, there will be one full-time and one part-time staff.

All positions have been included in the 2014 budget.
