Complaints about the borough’s tax collector and the 2014 budget were discussed at last night’s Blairsville Borough Council Meeting.

During Public Comment, Michael Parr commented on some things that he and several of his neighbors have noticed with the borough’s tax collector.  Chief among them were the tax checks being cashed over six weeks after they were sent, and the tax collector not being present during office hours on multiple occasions.  Parr says that these problems are not acceptable.

Borough President John Bertolino said that the Borough had received a similar complaint by written letter, and that the borough is looking into the matter.  Speaking of money, the Borough gave tentative approval to their 2014 budget, which was balanced at $1,752,662 with no tax increases for the borough.  It is now on display and will be up for final approval in December.
