The Blairsville-Saltsburg School Board voted to toughen their science program and also announced a recent award from Apple. 

After assistant superintendent Ian Magness said that the results for the Keystone State-wide tests in Biology were in his words “horrendous”, The Blairsville-Saltsburg school board approved a new Biology curriculum.  It was created by a consortium of science teachers from 10 schools in the area, and will be able to meet the requirements of the state mandated tests.

In other business, the board received word that the district would be honored By Apple Computers as the district will be honored as an “Apple Distinguished Program” for demonstrating their ability to transform learning and promoting innovation using new technology in the classroom.  Ian Magness said that he was proud of the district for receiving the award.  Representatives from Apple will be on hand at a later board meeting to present the district with their award.
