Bill on its way to Governor Tom Corbett

The State House of Representatives approved the transportation funding bill put forward by the senate by a vote of 113-85.  The bill now heads to Governor Tom Corbett’s Desk for his signature.

The plan includes funding for several projects in Indiana County, including Route 422 in Armstrong Township, the Rose Street Extension Project, and projects on Routes 119, 22, and 286.  The Bill will also provide funding for rehabilitation of state bridges.  Pennsylvania has 6500 structurally-deficient bridges, with 140 of them in Indiana alone.  Reed said that driving over a structurally-deficient bridge was too common in Pennsylvania.

The plan will bring $2.3 billion back into the state’s Transportation Systems, and will ensure around $500 million of transportation projects in Indiana County over the next 10 years.
