Blairsville Borough’s tax collector has resigned her position amid complaints about the way she handled her job.

During the borough council meeting Tuesday Night, Blairsville Borough Manager-Secretary Timothy Evans announced that he received a letter of resignation from Carol Terasovich, the Borough’s Tax Collector, who came under fire in recent months due to complaints of tax checks not being cashed or deposited.  An independent review that was compiled by Wessel and Company said that she had numerous problems, including disorganized records and unreconciled tax books.  The board unanimously voted to accept Terasovich’s resignation, and Evans talked about what is going to happen next.

For those who have not had their tax checks deposited yet, Evans says “Hang in there.”

The borough has 30 days to find a new tax collector.  If anyone is interested in the position, applications are available at the Borough Offices.  We’ll have an in-depth interview with Tim Evans this morning on Hometown Magazine.
