Indiana County Chief Clerk Robin Maryai announced during the County Commissioners meeting Wednesday morning that three polling sites had changed locations.

  • The Connemaugh 3 site is moving from the Saltsburg High School to the Smith Bus Garage on 10th Street.
  • The Marion Center site is moving from the community park to the Presbyterian Church of Marion.
  • The Montgomery Township site will move from the former Montgomery Citizens Ambulance Headquarters to the Township Supervisors building.

County Commissioners Chairman Rod Ruddock said he wanted to see the polling places return to the area schools, but understood the security risks involved in having the elections go on while school is in session.  Ruddock offered up a solution to that problem.

In other business, the Commissioners approved a contract for forestry services, a grant and a project all connected with removing trees from around Runway 29 at the Jimmy Stewart Airport.  The trees are a problem as they are too close to the runway, and if they are not removed, night-time landings will not be permitted by the state bureau of aviation.
