Indiana County Commissioners have created a team that will help first responders at incidents that impact traffic on our roadways.

During Wednesday’s County Commissioners meeting, Commissioner Mike Baker announced the creation of the county’s Traffic Incident Management or TIM team.  Baker said that the purpose of the team is to protect first responders on area roadways.

Baker said that response to the idea of the TIM Team has been popular so far, and they are looking for people to be a part.  If you wish to join the team, you can call Jeff Raykes, the chief planner at the Indiana County Office of Planning and Development at 724-465-3870.

In other business, the county commissioners approved a consent for right of entry request that came from the state Department of Environmental Protection.  The right of entry will be for the reclamation of an abandoned vertical mine shaft near Railroad Street in Homer City Borough.  The DEP has promised that when they are done in the area, they will leave the area in as good as or better condition than how they found it.
