Indiana board to vote on assistant superintendent

The Indiana Area school board meets tonight, with a number of items on its agenda, including a vote on a new assistant superintendent.  The name of the candidate has not been disclosed.

Also on the agenda for the busy meeting tonight is the operating budget for the Indiana County Technology Center, which is set at $6,148,545.  The district’s share of that budget will be determined by enrollment.  The board will be asked to expand the Hybrid Learning program to Math in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades at a total cost of $78,000, and in a separate motion, to approve an application to seek funding for the program.  Busing issues for the elementary school realignment also appear on tonight’s agenda, including the addition of five new buses to cut down travel time for students.  And the board will also vote on a school calendar for next year.

The Purchase Line school board also meets tonight.  They are trying something new in that district; the public is invited to “Breakfast with Bradley” on Thursday morning at 9 AM in the high school cafeteria.  Superintendent Joseph Bradley will conduct an open forum to discuss and gather opinions on Purchase Line issues.
