Public comment shows support for keeping Coach Rebecca Hudak; bids accepted for cafeteria and track field.

The hot topic at the April 14 Purchase Line school board meeting was the girls basketball coach and the possibility of replacing her.

Five people stood up to make public comments at the meeting, including the coach herself. The board's agenda contained a motion that would have booted out head girls basketball coach, Rebecca Hudak, and placed her position up for hire. All who spoke were in support of keeping Coach Hudak. The board ultimately decided to table this motion, indicating they will make a decision on it next month. As for now, Hudak is still employed and is hopeful about the board's eventual decision.

The initial motion to put Hudak's position up for hire allegedly stemmed from complaints about coaching style and remarks at games. Those who gave public comment said that Hudak has been "a consistently effective and professional coach." The board noted that they had already decided before the meeting to table the motion and that the public comments were not the reason for the tabling.

The board awarded ATT Sports Inc. the bid for resurfacing Purchase Line's track field at a cost of $76,675 plus $50 per square yard for any additional broken or failed areas not previously identified.

The board awarded BCS Construction Inc. the bid for renovating Pruchase Line's cafeteria. They decided, however, not to go with a renovation of the floor. Instead, they opted to just paint the glazed tile walls at a cost of $5,214 and to purchase and install two new exterior doors at a cost of $11,984.
