Homer City is getting ready for the Hoodlebug Festival this Sunday, but along with the festival and the 5K race that will be run on Sunday, there will be several road closures.

Homer City Police say the following roads will be closed Sunday:

  • Main Street from Wildcat Lane to Miller Avenue by S&T Bank will be closed for the Hoodlebug Parade.  The parade starts at 1:00.
  • For the 5K race at 5:00PM, North Main Street from East Church to Mullen Avenue will close starting at 5:00 PM and will remain closed until the end of the race.  At approximately 6 PM, the race will head south on main street to Kassel Street, then turn left on Red Barnd Road.  The runners will then go to Old Route 119 where they will follow it back to Red Barn Road then onto the Trail itself.  They rejoin the road on West Elm Street near Arone Auto Body.  Then runners take a right on West Elm Street going towards Main Street.  Then they will continue to run north, and wind up at the starting line at the Bridge on North Main street near Floodway Park.

Police are asking if you are going to the festival for the parade or the race, give yourself an extra 30 minutes to get to where you need to go on-time.  If you're just passing through, you may want to avoid those roads.
