Martha Catherine Dixson Sanders, 92, of Indiana, formerly of Creekside, Gettysburg, and Bethesda, Maryland, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Beacon Ridge Nursing Home.
A daughter of the late Robert Edward and Edna Frances Thompson Dixson, she was born March 10, 1920 in Creekside.
She graduated from Indiana High School in 1938 and became employed as an accountant by the Shade & Awning Shop in Bethesda, Maryland. Upon her retirement, she moved to Gettysburg where she resided until 2005 when she moved to the Moorehead House Assisted Living Facility in Indiana. Martha enjoyed cooking, traveling, she loved going to the beach, taking care of her flower garden, especially the roses. Her faith in God and her love for her family sustained her in life.
Martha is survived by a brother, Clarence Dixson; three nephews: Kenneth Dixson, Garry Dixson, and Thomas Dixson, all of Indiana; four nieces: Diana Bonatch Pompelia, of Plumville; Debra Dixson Bothel, of Bay Village, OH; Rhonda Dixson Warren, of Home; and Suzanne Dixson Porrecca, of Leesburg, VA. She is also survived by numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, and her beloved dog, Wyatt.
In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Dixson; a sister, Dorothy Dixson Bonatch, and a nephew, Jeffrey Allen Dixson.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc. in Indiana where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Dr. Horace Derr officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
