James D. Blackwell, 90, of Saltsburg, passed away Friday, October 5, 2012, at Indiana Regional Medical Center.
A son of the late Emerson and Virginia Mounts Blackwell, he was born February 7, 1922 in Hopewell County, Ill.
Mr. Blackwell worked for Cleveland Cap as a Tool and Die Machinist. He proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Blackwell was a member of the Church of God in New Florence. He was also a member of the Indiana V.F.W. Post #1989 and a 32nd Degree Mason.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Mona D. Rodkey Blackwell, of Saltsburg; four children, Harry McCurdy III, of Clymer; Steven McCurdy and wife Diane, of Akron, Ohio; Julie McClure and husband Vince, of Saltsburg; and Laura Strong and husband Randy, of Shelocta; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special niece, Debbie Dellit; special nephews, Phil Imig and wife Rosie, of Illinois; and Bobby Blackwell; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Blackwell; two brothers, Donald and Delmar Blackwell; four sisters, Infant Betty, Ardis Imig, Bess Blackwell and Victoria Blackwell; and one grandchild.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc., Indiana, where a funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday with Pastor John Satterfield officiating and Pastor Edward Knapic co-officiating.
Military rites will be accorded by Indiana V.F.W. Post #1989.
